A total of 35 players have booked their places in next month's PGA Irish Championship at The European Club after yesterday's stiff qualifying test on the Brittas Bay course.
The best score of the day was two-over-par 73, shared by Keith Coveney (Killarney), Michael Mulryan (Athenry) and Alan Murray (Greystones) with the last qualifier, unattached Eanna Jones, having to survive a nine-way shootout before booking his place in the draw.
The other eight players are now on standby for the championship that will be played at The European Club on July 11 to 14.
Another qualifying test, from which a further 35 players will book their places in the championship, will be held at The European Club on Monday, June 18.
