Donaghadee-attaché Chris Moriarty, first to break par 71, and St Margaret's John Kelly headed the list of qualifiers for the PGA Irish Championship at The European Club when, for once, a play-off wasn't necessary to decide the last places.
A further 37 players booked their places in the title race at the Brittas Bay course next month.
Moriarty and Kelly topped the leaderboard on one-under-par 70 with Challenge Tour player Michael McGeady and his former City of Derry colleague David P Jones, trading is talents nowadays on the Europro Tour, also among the qualifiers.
Former Irish senior international McGeady, attached to the North West Club on tour but entered as unattached, posted a 72 for joint third place while Jones was in a group on 76 in equal 20th position.
Unusually, there was no need for a shootout as 37 players finished neatly on 77 or better with Peter Hanna, from Fortwilliam, snatching the last spot.
The Irish Championship will be played at The European Club on July 11 to 14 with the curtain-raising pro-am on Tuesday, July 10.
