A host of top players from the PGA South region are confident of securing victory when the PGA Senior Club Professional Championship tees off next month at Northants County Golf Club.
Leading the charge will be Camberley Heath professional Glenn Ralph, who will find the conditions a stark contrast to his first event of the season - the DGM Barbados Open.
Ralph, who stayed in the house of pop star Eddy Grant while on the sun-kissed Caribbean isle, finished 15th but does not think that will give him any advantage especially having been laid up recently.
"I've been off the last four weeks with a bad back but that's part of life and you just battle on," said Ralph, a former European Tour regular.
"But I don't see it being a problem as I've been playing 35 years and it's just like riding a bike - you don't forget how to do it.
"It's just the sharpness that's lacking but you can get that back with a few rounds."
Ralph, who is making his debut in the tournament having only turn 50 last July, will be joined by Derek Craik (Frilford Heath), Roddy Watkins (Solent Meads) and Andrew Reynolds (Royal Cinque Ports).
Northants County has been revamped ahead of the tournament and club professional Tim Rouse believes the veterans can expect a tough challenge.
"We've had some new tees and new bunkers added over the winter and they will come into play for the first time in the Championship.
"They have added a new dimension to the course and will certainly give the players something extra to think about," he said.
The total prize fund for the event is £35,000 with the winner scooping £4,750 and a place in the Scottish Seniors Open at Dalmahoy, while the top 20 will be exempt for September's PGA Seniors Championship at Stoke by Nayland.
