As the 140 halfway aggregate set by David Orr early in the day continued to look impregnable, his nearest challenger for the Gleneagles Scottish PGA Championship is Mark Loftus.
The tall 28-year-old from the Cowglen club, on the southern edge of Glasgow, fired a three-under 70 for 143 over the punishing PGA Centenary course.
That leaves him three shots behind Orr, and one ahead of former Northern Open champion, Jason McCreadie, and two-time holder of the national title, Colin Gillies.
