Former champions Mike Watson and Martyn Thompson are looking to regain the title they won two years ago in the final of the Glenbrae PGA Fourball Championship, supported by SkyCaddie, next week.
The pair won the event at Hesketh in Southport but the £30,000 final has now moved to Fulford Golf Club in York between October 3 and 5.
However, a change of venue has not dented the Dorset duo's hopes.
"We have high expectations this year and we go there looking to win it," said Watson, of Weymouth Golf Club.
"We have got enough to win it because we won it in 2005. If we play well and putt well and keep the bogeys off the card we will have a good chance.
"But we know there are going to be several groups that are capable of winning it. We know the standard is going to be good."
Watson and Thompson, of Parkstone Golf Club near Poole, have been long-time friends and they hope that - and their previous experience of winning the national final - will work in their favour.
"We have played together so often we know each other's games so well," added Watson, who hopes he has recovered sufficiently from a back injury to play 54 holes in three days.
"We have known each other since we were county amateurs and he is my daughter's god father and that makes it easier to play with."
David Hutton and former European Tour professional Andrew Sherbourne were joint-winners of the West Region qualifier despite it being their first time playing together.
That has given them the confidence to make a determined challenge at Fulford.
"We're both playing well and looking forward to going up there and doing some damage," said Hutton, of High Post Golf Club, Great Durnford, near Salisbury.
"I've been playing a lot recently and not playing too badly while Andrew is the man with the experience - he has played the course a few times - so I shall be following his lead.
"With the way we are playing the goal is to win it.
"A few guys from the West Region have done well in recent years so we have a decent chance."
Hutton, 32, believes the fourball format of the tournament makes this event one of the most enjoyable.
"This is a nice tournament at the end of the year and there is some good prize money, which would set you up for the winter," he added.
"The thing with fourballs is to get both balls on the green. Then you have two chances and one of you can have a run at it.
"That is the key, keeping it in play and not putting your partner under pressure. You can assess the situation from there."
Other finalists from the region include Iford duo Rod Davis and Tim Allen - joint winners of the qualifier - Robin Goodey (Powakaddy) and Barry Austin (Downes Crediton), Ed Goodwin (Cirencester) and Mark Plummer (Golf Mania) and Tony Nash (Bowood Park) and Richard Saler (Killiow).
