Trio Confirmed For Monty Showdown

Published in:

Three PGA pros will face some of golf's biggest names including defending champion Colin Montgomerie after their entry was confirmed for the European Open later in the summer.

PGA Play-Offs champion Paul Streeter (Southwell) and runner up Simon Lilly (Wellingborough) will join south region Order of Merit winner Ant Tarchetti in what is set to be a star-studded field at The London Club from July 3-6.

Previous winners of the high profile event include Retief Goosen, Lee Westwood, Nick Faldo and Greg Norman.

The London Golf Club becomes the seventh venue to host the European Open, following Walton Heath, Turnberry, Royal Liverpool, Sunningdale, East Sussex National and, for the past 13 years, The K Club in Co. Kildare, Ireland.

American Bobby Wadkins won the first European Open at Walton Heath in Surrey in 1978.
