Spoils Galore Add Spice To Qualifiers

Published in:

Glenmuir has introduced a series of improvements to its sponsorship package for this year's PGA Professional Championship qualifiers.

Among the incentives is a £250 credit voucher (with a retail value of £500) for the leading finisher in each qualifier who is an account holder with the Lanark-based firm.

Between 500-600 PGA pros will compete across eight regional qualifiers this year, with a field of 156 going on to compete in the final - which will be staged at the historic Moortown Golf Club, Leeds, on July 29-August 1.

Each regional qualifier winner will receive a cut glass trophy in addition to a £250 prize..

With plans for improved signage at each regional event and an increased brand presence, Glenmuir Marketing Director Andy Bough is delighted with the way this year's competition is taking shape.

"We have been working closely with the PGA to make this year's championship the best ever, an event that the competitors really enjoy on and off the course, and I am confident professionals will respond by taking part and creating a truly memorable championship," he said.

A £78,000 prize fund has been allocated to the championships, with the eventual winner walking away with £10,000.

The winner also receives: A five-year exemption from qualifying for the Glenmuir PGA Championship; an exemption into the BMW PGA Championship; exemption from Regional Qualifying at The Open; exemption category on the PGA Europro Tour; a Peugeot car for a year; and almost certain qualification for the PGA Cup Matches which are taking place at The Carrick at Cameron House next year.

Members are reminded that closing date for entries is Monday, April 7.
