Marshall To Play PGA Europro

Published in:

European Tour player Andrew Marshall will play the first event of the 2008 PGA Europro Tour.

Norfolk-based Marshall has been a regular on the European Tour since gaining his first card in 2002 and won the Wensum Valley event in 2005.

This year's event kicks off with a Pro-Am on Tuesday (April 29), and the tournament itself begins the following day with Marshall leading a 155-strong field competing for the £10,000 first prize.

Entry is free for spectators with the leading 50 players plus ties playing the final round on Friday.

Wensum Valley is the opening event of the 16-tournament schedule for 2008 which carries a total prize fund of €1,000,000.

Former Walker Cup player John Parry won the PartyPoker.com Qualifying School at Frilford Heath in Oxford last week and he will play at Wensum Valley, along with fellow Walker Cup player Jamie Elson, Australian European Tour player Daniel Gaunt and Wensum Valley's Chase David.

Looking forward to the event, Danny Nickless, operations manager of the PGA Europro Tour said: "We're always welcomed very warmly at Wensum Valley and their hospitality is fantastic.

"Basil Todd and his team make a huge effort for the week and I know the players enjoy playing at Wensum, which is a good test with some great holes. We always have a good turn out from local people and, as the Tour grows, we hope this improves each year."
