Doak On Fire At Scottish Wateraid

Published in:

Chris Doak sealed his second Order of Merit win in a row on the Tartan Tour after storming to victory in the Scottish Wateraid 36-holer at Barassie.

The former Scottish PGA No.1, who opened his account for the new season with success at Craigielaw last month, fired a professional course record eight-under 64 for an 11-under 133 to finish two ahead of Buchanan Castle's Jason McCreadie.

An eagle at the first got Doak off to a flying start and his title charge gathered pace with five birdies on the spin from the seventh.

Despite spilling a shot at the 14th, the former Northern Open champion bounced back with birdies at 16 and 18 to clinch a cheque for around £2700 and put himself forward as an early contender to secure a spot at the end of season Srixon PGA Play-Offs at Royal Liverpool via the Order of Merit.

Runner-up McCreadie added a 67 to his opening 68 for 135 while David Orr of East Renfrewshire closed with a 68 to grab third on 137.

In the team event, Euan Little led the United Utilities amateur trio of Ian McAulay, Steve Fraser and Colin MacDonald to victory with a 56.
