Tim Rouse, the Midland PGA Chairman, demonstrated that he is still very much a golfer as well as an administrator when he won Sunday's Nuneaton Pro-Am.
The Northamptonshire County Golf Club pro fired a four-under-par 67 to clinch the title ahead of 2007 PGA Cup man Daniel Taylor, of Swingers Golf Centre.
The full time desk job is a long way off as Rouse carded eight birdies at Nuneaton. Two bogeys and a double-bogey at the par three 11th were brushed aside as he finished with three birdies.
Taylor took five shots from the course but handed back two to finish sole second ahead of a clutch of chasers including Matthew Morris (Bromsgrove), former Tour regular Jeremy Robinson, Adrian Carey (Walmley) and Jason Powell (Hinckley) who all finished with 69s.
Morris and Paul Streeter, who finished a shot further back on one-under-par, move on to Wentworth this week where they line up alongside some of golf's biggest names at the BMW PGA Championship.
