David Hutton swears by his new range finder - the device approved by the PGA to enable players to work out exact distances in the aim of speeding up play.
It helped him win his second pro-am in less than two weeks at Forest Hills after success at Saunton.
The Hamptworth touring professional worked out the distance for his second shot to a green fronted by water. With precisely 100 yards left he sent a wedge directly at the hole, the ball pitched six inches past and spun into the cup for an eagle two.
This spectacular shot was worth £543 as it gave him a tie with Paul Jones (Canford Magna) who was already in the clubhouse on five-under-par 67.
They finished three shots clear of Sean Mason (Teign Valley) with Graham Howell (Ferndown Forest) and George Ryall (Players Club) a shot further back.
