Kingsfield's Mark King has every reason to be confident ahead of the SkyCaddie PGA Fourball Championship, supported by Sunderland, at Fulford Golf Club next week from October 1.
He and partner Rob Arnott, of Bishopbriggs, claimed first place in the Scottish regional qualifier at Musselbrough in early September with a six-under-par 65 and are hopeful of reproducing that form for the finals.
"My partner Rob has had a really good season up here in Scotland and played really well in the qualifier with six birdies and an eagle," said King. "He's definitely playing better than me but hopefully both of us can put in a good performance there.
"Winning the qualifier definitely gives us a psychological edge but there were a few other really good players from Scotland who qualified so it will be tough.
"Hopefully we can play the same way as we did in qualifying and be in the mix at the end of it and be in with a chance.
"We are looking forward to it because it's refreshing to play a different format. It should be good."
Another Scottish pair hoping to make their mark in Yorkshire is Duddingston's Tom Buchanan and Alistair Mackenzie, who also shot 65 in the qualifier but came second on countback.
The duo narrowly missed the cut last year so they are desperate to make amends this time round.
However, a summer of rain north of the border has prevented them from practising as much as they would have liked.
"We played in it last year and missed the cut by one shot so it would be excellent to go back down there and make the cut this time," said Buchanan.
"Our preparations have not been as good as we'd have liked because the weather has been dreadful up here all summer and has hampered playing a lot of the time.
"But we'll give it our best shot and luckily my partner is playing really well at the moment.
"It's a great tournament. You can have a go at things and take on shots you wouldn't normally go for.
"It's good to meet up with lots of players you've played with over the years and see some old faces, as well as meet some new ones.
"Several of us from Scotland are renting a house for the week and without doubt it will be very good.
