Essex duo Andrew Pestell and Jason Levermore completed a wire-to-wire victory at the SkyCaddie PGA Fourball Championship, supported by Sunderland, with a three-stroke triumph at Fulford Golf Club in York.
The pair had been joint leaders the previous two days with west of England pair Andrew Sherborne and David Hutton.
However, they out-played their rivals over the opening five holes on the final day to take a three-stroke lead which they never relinquished.
A final-round 64 saw them finish 27 under for 54 holes, three clear of Sherborne and Hutton and Surrey duo Craig
Cowper and Gary Marks, who leapt into contention after an amazing 11-under-par 61 in the toughest conditions of the week.
Beginning the day 19 under, Pestell and Levermore had four birdies in six holes to their playing partners' one to open up a healthy advantage.
That was stretched to four with another birdie at the eighth and although Sherborne and Hutton pulled a stroke back at the 10th they did not have the firepower to haul in their rivals.
"We played well the last couple of days and we just seemed to gel. Neither of us seem to play badly on the same hole, which works well for us," said Levermore, from Clacton Golf Club.
"Today we were trying to do exactly the same as we have done for the last two days - don't change anything and if we played how we have done it would be good enough.
"We got off to a good start and we were four under through six and the lads we were playing with birdied only one.
"It made it a lot easier that they got off to a slow start and then didn't really push us.
"We had two more birdies before the end of the nine for a comfortable lead so we just thought we need to throw in two or three birdies on the back nine and that would be good enough to win and that is what we did.
"We didn't say anything about making pars because there are tough holes on the back nine. The other guys could have thrown in two or three birdies."
Before the tournament the pair had to choose between this event and the Ryder Cup Wales 2010 Welsh National Championship, which had been rescheduled for this week having been postponed from last month.
They decided to return to Fulford, where they finished 11th in the final last year, and it paid dividends with a £5,000 first prize.
"We pulled out the Welsh event to play in this. We were 'umming' and 'ahhing' about which to play in because that is a good event as well but we thought we had a good time up here last year," added Levermore.
"We seem to play well as a pair and we fancied we would do well this year, having finished 11th last year. "And this is a nice cheque at the end of the year."
Pestell admitted he was not sure they had made the correct decision right up until the start of play on Wednesday.
"I was still thinking about it when I came here as to whether it was the right thing to do - and it was," said the Chelmsford professional.
"It is always nice to win and put a few quid in the bank.
"We've been solid all week. I thought we were going to be pretty close (to winning) after eight or nine holes.
"Jason rolled in a long birdie putt on the 13th and that virtually sealed it.
"It's nice to put a win on the sheet."
Sherborne, who with partner Hutton (Hamptworth) carded a 67, admitted they had a poor final round.
"Neither of us played great. We just didn't give ourselves enough chances today," said the Kendleshire professional.
"Our best wasn't very good today. It has been a good week, a bit of fun and you never know what is going to happen in this format.
"We didn't back each other up around the golf course. We left each other playing difficult holes - and they were all difficult today."
