Halfpenny Green professional Darren Prosser found the bright lights - and fairways - of America's playground to his liking as he claimed a third Las Vegas Classic Pro-Am success.

But this one he finally got all to himself having shared his previous two victories in the American Golf Holiday event with DJ Russell (2000) and Simon Lilly (2008).

The win also took his total number of AGH victories to 12 - just two behind Lilly, the leading winner in the Pro-Am tour's 15-year history.

Prosser's latest 54-hole success came via a one-shot margin over Merrist Wood's Alan Lovelace after three days of competitive action in Nevada.

The tournament opened with 18 holes over Cascata Golf Club, which saw Prosser and Great Hadham's Paul Hetherington share the lead with a pair of 74s.

Lovelace hauled himself into contention with a level-par 71 over TPC Las Vegas, with Prosser sliding to a two-over-par 73 and Hetherington a 75.

The final round, over the challenging par 73 Wolf Course at Las Vegas Paiute Resort, saw Prosser grind out level par for a five-over-par total. But Lovelace carded a 75 to leave himself a shot behind the Midlander. Hetherington had a second consecutive 75 to finish third.

On the back of his win, Prosser hailed the impact of his San Diego-based coach Dennis Sheehey for his return to form.

In the team event, Enville's Simon Isaac made it a Midlands double by leading his team of Richard Darby, Jason Nicolaou and Socrates Efstathiou to victory.

The next AGH event is The Hilton Head Classic in South Carolina at the end of this month. Further information can be obtained from The American Golf Holiday or telephone 02380 465 885.
