David Shacklady believes his late start to the campaign has given him a big advantage over his PGA North Region rivals.
"I feel a lot fresher by not playing in some of the earlier events but I've already had three victories, two seconds and a fourth in six outings," said the Mossock Hall tournament professional after winning the Brough Classic Pro-am for the first time in 16 years.
He added: "Brough is always a tough course when it's breezy and bouncy because there's not much room for error. I usually struggle round there and I've not got a fantastic record.
"But I holed out well, apart from three-putting the final green. I always felt in control and saw every shot clearly."
Shacklady, 42, racked up four birdies in his first round 65 and two more in his closing 69 for a two-under-par total to win by one from Haigh Hall's Craig Corrigan, Alex Belt, from Bridlington Links and Houghwood's Barry Taylor.
