Stick Simon Lilly in the American desert with a set of golf clubs and invariably there's only one outcome - winning.

The Wellingborough ace struck again to chalk up his 17th American Golf Holidays Pro-Am Tour success as he claimed the 2010 Scottsdale Classic Pro-Am.

Lilly finished one-under-par after 72 challenging holes in Arizona with Andy Raitt (St George's Hill) second at one-over and James Ablett third at four-over.

Ablett set the initial pace with a sensational opening day 65 over the Sun Ridge Canyon course - five shots clear of his nearest challenger and nine clear of Lilly and Raitt, who both carded 74s.

That advantage was significantly reduced over the Founders Course at Quintero Golf & Country Club. Ablett could only add a 74 to his opening day effort as Raitt shot a best-of-the-day 66 while Lilly chipped in with a 69 to be the only players to break 70.

Raitt was now within one shot of Ablett at the halfway stage with Lilly four behind the leader.

The third round, over Greyhawk's Raptor Course, saw Lilly shoot a 72 - the best of the title contenders - to draw within one shot of Raitt (74) and Ablett (75), who were joint leaders going into the final day.

Lilly maintained his momentum over We-Ko-Pa's Saguaro Course with a final round 70 for a winning 285 one-under tally. Raitt could only conjure up a 73 with Ablett carding a 76.

It was Lilly's second win of the series having won the opening event in Arizona in November. This week the action moves to Las Vegas.
