The Applied Golf Management Studies Degree is the first full-time degree course of its kind to combine the PGA's expertise with a sports based degree from one of the UK's top universities.

The University of Birmingham and the PGA have teamed up to offer a unique degree combining applied academic and theoretical aspects of sports management and science related golf, with vocational aspects of the golf business.The three-year full-time programme leads to an honours degree and (on achieving the required standards) the opportunity to apply for PGA professional status.
Students graduating from the degree will be expected to lead the field in both golfing prowess and in the management, organisation and coaching of golf internationally.
The Professional Golfers' Association, is the body that governs professional golf in this country. Its qualifications are recognised throughout Europe and the rest of the world. The existing PGA Professional Diploma is also now a Foundation Degree in Professional Golf awarded by the University of Birmingham.
Degree Content
The degree follows a number of applied theoretical disciplines throughout the three years - Sports Science, Business Management, Materials Science and Coach Education. During the three years students will study a number of modules including:
- Psychology of golf
- Analysis of swing theory
- Equipment technology
- Business and financial performance
- Applied sports science
- Event management
- Plus three placements in golf settings

Current Entry Requirements
- Students will need to have achieved a minimum ABB at Advanced level (320 tariff points).
- Applicants should also have a handicap of 4.4 (male) or 6.4 (female) or better.

The PGA offers a three-year Foundation Degree leading to full PGA membership.
The university has a number of set open days and students are encouraged to visit, see the campus and facilities and talk to our students and staff - visit the University of Birmingham for more information. There are also specific AGMS open days at The Belfry, which are by invitation only.
