The Welsh Open Young PGA Professional Championship is open to all PGA qualified and assistant members under the age of 30 and this year boasted a prize fund of £7,500 with £1,125 for the winner.
The Championship also carries some valued exemptions into events to be staged later in the year.
The leading Welsh player will qualify for the Firstplus Wales Challenge with the leading five players and ties qualifying for the Ryder Cup Wales 2010 Welsh Open PGA Championship.
In addition the leading two Welsh assistants will receive a place in the starting field for the Powerade PGA Assistants' Championship.
Ryder Cup Wales 2010 and the PGA at a national level are committed to working together in the run up to the Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor and to ensure a legacy for PGA professionals in Wales beyond 2010.
