Director of Golf Terms and Conditions

Registration

You must be a PGA member of Great Britain and Ireland or a PGA member of South Africa to participate in this course.

When you register to study with The PGA we are making a contract with each other.

The PGA will register you on the Director of Golf if it is satisfied that you:

  • Meet the general requirements of being a PGA Member
  • Paid the relevant fee.

The Director of Golf Qualification is available for study in the country in which you are resident, however, the Induction Day is an attendance seminar held normally in the UK.

The contract comes into force when we confirm formally by email.

Phases and fees

Phase Title Cost
1 The Induction Day £225
2 PGA Certificate of Golf Management Theory £525
3 PGA Director of Golf £850

Prices may be subject to change.

This fee covers the administration and assessment of the phase(s).

The PGA reserves the right to vary or cancel the Induction Day where the occasion necessitates.

Note to overseas members
All costs are based on members based within the UK. Applications from outside the UK may incur additional costs for assessor travel which will be payable by the member in advance of an assessor visit taking place. If in the unlikely event, an in-person assessment is needed for Stage 3, all flights, car hire and hotels will be charged at cost. Each Overseas member will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

Periods of Registration
Post Induction Day (Stage 1)
Due to the ongoing development of the programme, members must enrol on the Certificate of Golf Management Theory within 18 months of attending the Induction Day. If a member would like to progress to Stage 2 after this period has lapsed, they must pay the Induction Day fee again and reattend a future Induction Day.

Certificate of Golf Management Theory and Director of Golf Qualification
The registration periods for Stages 2 and 3 are as follows:

Stage 2 PGA Certificate of Golf Management Theory: 24 months
Stage 3 PGA Director of Golf Qualification: 18 months

It is expected that all assessments for the qualification will be completed within the member’s period of registration. Once these registration periods have expired, members will be removed from the stage they are currently enrolled on. If they wish to complete the stage, they must pay in full and start again.

Leave of Absence

The PGA recognise and understands that sometimes situations occur that may prevent members from making progress with their qualifications. In exceptional unforeseen circumstances, (e.g. death of a close family member, partner or dependent, an unforeseen prolonged incapacity of a member or a close family member due to serious illness, accident, or medical condition, or other exceptional circumstances of a serious nature beyond the member’s control) a deferral of their qualification of initially 6-months can be granted.

Extensions

If, towards the end of a member’s registration period, for any reason they are unable to complete their assessment within this period, they may apply, with good reason, to the PGA Member Education Department to extend their registration for a further six months. This will be reviewed by The PGA Member Education Team before making a decision. A fee may be charged for any extension.

All leave of absence and extension requests need to be made in writing to The PGA.
