An extensive survey is taking place throughout November to help the PGA build up a comprehensive picture of the coaching landscape in England and Ireland.
The PGA’s third coaching audit will quiz PGA pros, assistants and volunteer coaches on all aspects of their coaching to assist in shaping foundation education and future ongoing learning requirements. (SEE SURVEY LINKS AT BOTTOM).
In addition it will also help PGA pros to identify areas of potential business growth and specific target groups.
Importantly the survey also wants to hear from pros who DON'T coach to find out why.
Organisers in particular hope to generate substantial feedback from PGA in Ireland pros to capture the state of coaching in the country.
PGA pros remain the bedrock of golf coaching in the UK and Ireland from beginners through to elite level players at the very top of the game and the audit will provide valuable information to ensure they remain the number one go to people for learning to play and enjoy golf.
Coaches employ a range of methods, techniques and technologies in delivering expert tuition and the audit will seek to establish a broad picture on what is happening in grass roots coaching.
The survey will take roughly 15 minutes to complete and is viewed as vital in meeting the needs of PGA Members in the future.
Jussi Pitkanen, The PGA’s coach education and development manager for Ireland, said: “We are really excited to be running this coaching audit and to be reaching as wide an audience as possible to maximise the response rate and insight.
“At a core level we hope to find out more about coaching habits, why people coach, if they want to do more and what continued education they are seeking. We are particularly keen to get as many Irish pros responding to help generate more coaching opportunities.”
Jonathan Wright, The PGA’s coach education manager for England added: “The findings will help enlighten us on what types of golfers receive the most coaching (and the least), the kind of coaching they want and in so doing this information will help members to target groups where there is potential to grow their business – historically this has been around the recreational golfer who was under-exposed to coaching.”
