The PGA has confirmed the Great Britian & Ireland team for the 2024 Women's PGA Cup, taking place at Sunriver Resort in Oregon from 3-5 October.
Led by captain Cathy Panton-Lewis, the GB&I team includes four players who earned their places through the 2023/24 Women’s PGA Professional Championship and WPGA Series, with the fifth spot being a captain’s pick.
Holly Morgan and Heather MacRae secured the first two spots after the Women’s PGA Professional Championship, while Ali Gray and Marie Martindale claimed the next two after the final qualifying event earlier this week. Suzanne Dickens was then selected to complete a strong line-up.
This third staging of the event sees teams of five PGA Members compete against their PGA Professional counterparts from the United States, Canada, Sweden, South Africa and Australia over three days. Every team member will play 18 holes each day, with the lowest three out of five scores counting for the team. The team with the lowest 54-hole aggregate scores wins.
Qualifier and past player Ali Gray believes the team has something unique this year. “This time round it's different, it's a different team. I like all the bonding with the girls and getting to know them, the camaraderie, it'll be fantastic.”
“We have an amazing captain. She will show us the way, I'm sure. And we're going to do our best to bring back the trophy for Great Britain and Ireland.”
