A message from PGA in Ireland Chairman Gary Chambers

30/04/2020

Due to the current global pandemic and the lockdown we are having to endure, these can be very worrying times for our members.

PGA members are employed in over 70 different roles within the golf industry so it goes without saying there is no one solution for everyone but your regional staff and the staff at HQ in the Belfry are working tirelessly to keep you abreast of developments as they happen.

Our staff are currently working at contacting our entire membership so if you haven’t heard from them to date, I can assure you they will be in contact soon. Our staff will endeavour to help you with any queries you may have and if they don’t have the answer straight away, they will find the answer for you.

I would encourage you to read the ‘PGA Connect’ communication that is sent to you regularly as it has a world of information included in it, including:

  • Information surrounding mental health and wellbeing including information on FREE counselling.
  • COVID-19 helpline for members and golf clubs.
  • Resources: The PGA Member Education Department has compiled a list of CPD opportunities, including free and reduced-cost courses, that are available for Members during the current coronavirus lockdown should you wish to continue your professional development during lockdown.
  • Information on support from suppliers.

Please don’t feel you are facing this pandemic alone, all our PGA staff are there to aid you in any way they can so lift the phone and talk to someone about your concerns and use the help that is out there.

I would like to wish all of you and your families well, stay safe and we will all come through this challenging time together.

Gary Chambers
PGA in Ireland Chairman
