James Ablett held off a stiff challenge to land his second Las Vegas Classic Pro-Am title in three years on the American Golf Holiday Pro-Am Tour.
The Lee-on-the-Solent pro’s victory came after a third place finish the previous week in Scottsdale.
The opening round was staged at the stunning Cascata Golf Club, built specifically to feel like a private club for the ‘casino high-rollers’ of Las Vegas.
And Ablett took full advantage of the pristine course conditions and perfect weather to open up an early two shot lead over, PGA EuroPro Tour regular Jason Kelly, and Kingswinford’s Darren Prosser.
In round two at the former US PGA Tour venue TPC Las Vegas, Kelly caught Ablett after shooting a superb 68, which was matched by Chris Gane who moved into third place.
In the final round at Las Vegas Paiute Resort, Kings Hill’s Benn Barham carded a sensational 65 around the Wolf Course to climb the leaderboard.
However, Gane and especially Ablett also took advantage of the excellent scoring conditions, and it was the Lee-on-the-Solent man who triumphed after a closing 68.
In the Pro-Am team event, Gane’s team of Andy Doswell, Stuart Munro and Neale Foulkes claimed victory.
