Nottinghamshire PGA Professional Kevin Crossland is looking to build on his incredible summer form when he competes in the Golfbreaks.com PGA Fourball Championship final.

Worksop pro Crossland, 34, goes into the BMW-supported event on the back of his first career hole-in-one, which he notched earlier this month at the prestigious Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship at Blairgowrie.

Crossland (pictured) will tee up alongside long-time friend Andrew Willey (Bulwell Forest), who is also in excellent form after finishing in third place in Scotland.

The duo, competing together in this event for the first time, will be looking to secure a share of the £33,250 prize fund on August 20-22.

And Crossland remains confident that they can be in the mix when it counts at the Cornwall venue.

“Yeah we’re feeling good, it’s nice to go into events feeling that you can compete at the top of the leaderboard,” he explained.

“Andrew’s playing very well this year, and we’ve both been getting chance to play in plenty of tournaments so we should be well prepared when it comes to going out on the course.

“During the Glenmuir my putter was hot, I was really pleased with my short game.

“But I thought I needed to improve my long game, although the hole-in-one did make me feel a little bit better about that!

“They do say that once you get one another can often follow fairly quickly behind, so you never know I could get another in the Fourball!”

Crossland is determined that the duo’s lack of knowledge of the St Mellion course will not hinder them in pursuit of the silverware.

“We haven’t played St Mellion before so it is going to be new to us,” he confessed.

“But from what I’ve heard it should suit us. It’s a long course, and personally I think the tougher the course the better it will be for us.

“I don’t see why we can’t go out there and do well – Andy’s having a great season and there’s nothing to say we can’t go there and win.”

Other duos from the Midlands competing in the event include Richard Beastall and John Vaughan (both Rufford Park), Thomas Cheetham (Chase) and Luke Howe (Brocton Hall), John Bandurak (Great Barr) and Adam White (Perton Park), and Richard Challoner and Mark Butler (both Mark Butler Golf Academy).
