Worksop PGA Professional Kevin Crossland picked the perfect time to sink the first hole in one of his life.

The 34-year-old claimed his ace during the opening round of the flagship Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship at Blairgowrie Golf Club, Scotland.

Crossland holed at the 152-yard par 3 ninth on the Lansdowne Course, which played a huge part in him posting a level par 72 in the £78,000 championship.

“Things hadn’t been going too well up to that point and the hole in one turned my round on its head,” he said.

“It really was a wake-up call as I reckon I was heading for an 80 until that point.”

Crossland had a rollercoaster round featuring two birdies, two eagles (including the hole in one), four bogeys and one double bogey. Despite all that, he sits just four shots behind joint leaders Leicestershire’s Ian Lyner and Devonian Paul Hendriksen who carded 68s.
