PGA in Cheshire & North Wales has announced its busiest schedule for years with four Order of Merit tournaments and a record 17 pro-ams.

Regional secretary Graham Maly enthused: “The two counties, which are hotbeds for the game, are also hosting the national GolfBreaks.com PGA Fourball Championship at Carden Park in August.

“But the icing on the cake is the provisional £13,000 prize-fund for the 36-hole School Bus Foundation pro-am at Disley on September 4-5.

“It is sponsored by HCSS Education, part of the Access Group, a leading education finance specialist which provides software solutions, training and consultancy services.”

First up on the county tournament schedule is the Assistants’ Championship of Cheshire at High Legh Park on June 1.

The GW Insurance Cheshire and North Wales Masters at Denbigh (above) is on June 13 and is preceded by a pro-am.

Northop Country Park is the venue for the Cheshire & North Wales Open on June 27 which also has curtain-raising pro-am.

And Helsby stages the long-running Assistants’ Championship for the Sue Wright Trophy on July 12.

Among new pro-ams on the calendar are Nefyn and Abergele with two more in the pipeline.
