Golf At Goodwood is launching a Get Into Golf campaign this spring just as the game is enjoying a surge in growth with more than 50,000 people taking up the sport last summer according to a recent survey by England Golf, the game’s governing body.

More significantly this figure is 47 per cent up on the same period in 2012 and encouragingly 35 per cent of all participants were female. Moreover, in another survey published this month in Women & Golf Magazine 3,500 golfers and non-golfers were surveyed and of the non-golfers those interested in taking up the game more than 50 per cent were women.

In a bid to persuade more people to have a go at golf, Goodwood is hosting an affordable golf session on Sunday March 30 for all the family including a special Mother’s Day lunch.

All equipment will be provided and the cost for the day is £7.50 per adult and children can take part for free.

The two hour golf session kicks off at 10am at the golf academy under the guidance of a team of PGA Professionals with Tri-Golf for youngsters. PGA pro George Hannah is pictured above putting a young girl through her paces.

For the complete beginner there will be an introduction to the basics including grip, stance and swing and for the more experienced there will be pitching, putting and long game challenges using the latest golf technology. To add a touch of competitive spirit there will also be some amazing prizes.
