Midland PGA pro Cameron Clark will have his own cheerleaders including a couple of Harry Potter stars when he lines up for Great Britain & Ireland in the PGA Cup against the United States in California next week.

The acting twins James and Oliver Phelps, who played the Weasley brothers in the blockbuster films, are hoping to be there to cheer on Clark who is head PGA pro at their Moor Hall club.

Club captain Neil Keegan is also planning to fly in to support Clark while his wife, Sarah, son, Ewan, dad and step mum plus in-laws will also be rooting for the popular 41 year old.

Clark is part of Jon Bevan’s ten-man GB&I team that is attempting to win on US soil for the first time in the event’s 42 year history.

The three day Ryder Cup style contest gets underway on Friday, September 18 with fourballs, foursomes and singles.

Clark has been practising hard while a five under par 67 in a recent outing at Northampton bodes well as he juggles his busy work commitments at his Sutton Coldfield club.

“The PGA Cup has been very close to my thoughts and I’ve been practising hard and really can’t wait,” said Clark.

“I feel I’m in the right place to go and embrace the experience and make the most of it.

“I think at the end of the day, it’s the 10 of the best GB&I pros and 10 of the best US pros so there is nothing to be scared of.

“On our day we can be as good as anyone, we’ve all been playing golf long enough to know that.

“The team spirit at the recent get together at The Belfry was really good and everyone is buzzing for it.

“I’m going to have my family out there plus hopefully Neil and the Phelps twins and I’m just aiming to embrace the experience and I’m determined to enjoy it.”

The USA holds an overall 17 wins record with GB&I winning five times and four draws including the last time out at Slaley Hall two years ago when GB&I swept the Sunday singles to clinch a dramatic tie.

The rest of the 2015 team comprises Lee Clarke (Beeston Fields), David Dixon (Enmore Park), Graham Fox (Clydeway Golf), Paul Hendriksen (Ivybridge), Niall Kearney (Royal Dublin), Jason Levermore (Channels), Michael Watson (Wessex Golf Centre), Gareth Wright (West Linton) and Alex Wrigley (Hartlepool).
