Laurence Pithie, Master Greenkeeper with over 40 years experience in golf course maintenance, has joined Promote Training as an Associate Author and launched a new eLearning course entitled “AN INTRODUCTION TO GOLF COURSE MANAGEMENT”.

The new course is aimed at club employees who require greater knowledge of how fine turf is managed and presented on golf courses in order to provide good playing surfaces. It also examines golf course maintenance within the wider context of golf club management and how best to manage the sometimes conflicting relationship between the two.

Taking approximately 15 hours to complete, the course is split into 4 sections:

  • Section 1 – Golf Course Management
  • Section 2 – Course Environment & Climate
  • Section 3 – Turfgrass Fundamentals
  • Section 4 – Four Building Blocks for Managing Golf Turf

It provides a rounded introduction to the subject and is ideal for Club Managers, General Managers and Directors of Golf, or any PGA Professional aspiring to such roles.

Commenting on the new course, David Reeves, co-founder of Promote Training, says:

“This new eLearning course is a really great addition to our growing portfolio of courses. Laurence is an undisputed leader in the subject of golf course management and a regular lecturer on the subject both in the UK and internationally.

An understanding of course maintenance practices is becoming an increasing pre-requisite for senior management positions at golf clubs. The course represents the most important asset to the vast majority of clubs and certainly the largest expenditure. To have a sound knowledge of this specialist topic is fundamental to the successful execution of golf club management.

The course covers the subject of golf course management from three very different perspectives – the customer, the club’s management and the science of fine turf maintenance. On completion, delegates will have a much greater understanding of the often-incompatible demands from all three and how these can be managed harmoniously."

Promote Training, who are the first dedicated eLearning provider to the UK golf industry, are building a library of training products that focus on the practical realities of working in a golf club environment.

Other eLearning courses currently available to study online include “Generating Membership Leads”, “Driving Green Fee Revenues” and “Golf Food & Beverage Management”.

As with those, this new course offers a 25% discount to PGA members who can access the course for £110. Any PGA Professional who completes this new course will be awarded 85 CPD Points.
