Another win for Richards

Truro’s Scott Richards made it back-to-back wins in the Cornwall Professional Golfers’ Alliance by carding a one-under-par round of 71 worth 37 stableford points at Newquay.

He finished a shot clear of James Ruth (China Fleet) and Grant Slater (Trevose) in a field of 62 on a rare dry day beside the seaside.

Home professional Chris Gill, his assistant Josh Hancock and Richard Sadler (Killiow) were a further shot back in fourth.

But Sadler and amateur partner Will Sumner (Carlyon Bay) took the pairs prize on 41 points, followed by Stuart Kirkbride and Mike Masters (St Enodoc), Dave Holland and Tristan Gurd (Falmouth) and Carl White and Ashley Fieldhouse (Newquay), all on 40.
