Aphrodite Hills named European Golf Course of the Year

Aphrodite Hills has been recognised for its ‘excellence’ and ‘innovation’ after being awarded the European Golf Course of the Year 2018/2019 at the Luxury Travel Guide Lifestyle Awards.

The Luxury Travel Awards recognise and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the affluent travel and tourism industry and identify the best holiday destinations, hotels, spas, golf clubs, travel agencies, lifestyle companies.

The nominations are focused on innovation, design, rooms and facilities, gastronomic achievements, service excellence, use of technology, sustainable development, marketing & branding, employee satisfaction, and location.

Throughout the past 12 months, Luxury Travel Guide received 21,333 nominations from 34 countries and winners were chosen for brand recognition, innovation, user experience, and service excellence. 

Luxury Travel Guide commented: “When choosing our award winners, we consider all aspects of a luxurious environment and product. Whilst some of our winners have developed innovative new techniques, others have impressed us with their simple yet personal approach that give guests a better experience.” 

Aphrodite Hills became part of The PGA’s prestigious brand of properties as the PGA National Cyprus in 2017.

The resort, located in the hills overlooking the site where Aphrodite, the goddess of love, is said to have emerged from the Mediterranean Sea, features a 6,200 metres plus championship course that was opened in 2002.

Aphrodite Hills also houses a golf academy complete with an academy practice course and 350 metre double-ended driving range.

It all adds up to a facility that, staffed by five fully-qualified PGA Members under director of golf Andrew Darker’s leadership, is perfect for both beginners and experienced players to learn and improve their games or just play in the sunshine.
