Archer coasts to victory

Phil Archer, back playing PGA North regional events after a successful spell on the European Tour, evoked memories of past successes when he won the Englands Golf Coast pro-am.

The long-time Birchwood attached professional closed with a with a four-under-par 67, which featured four birdies in the last eight holes, in the final round at Open championship venue Royal Lytham & St Annes.

Archer opened with 72 at Fairhaven and followed up with 70 at St Annes Old Links one his way to a seven-under total.

He was four shots ahead of nearest rival Scott Jackson, from Disley, who closed with 68 and shared second place with Windermere's Simon Edwards who signed off with 71.
