Michael Jones won the third fixture in the PGA Cheshire & North Wales Members' Tour then admitted he owed part of his success to former European Tour player and recent PGA Cup winner Phil Archer.
Jones finished three shots ahead of the field at Prestatyn after finishing on four-under par 68. He rolled in four birdies on the outward half and erred only once on the home stretch when, after a par at the 15th he bogeyed the next hole.
"Archer gave me some putting advice when we recently played at The Belfry," said Jones after his win which earned him £160.
"It's certainly helped my game since," added the Royal Liverpool assistant after finishing three shots clear of his nearest challenger Lee Rooke, from Royal St David's.
Rooke made a disappointing start after a double bogey at the third which was followed by back-to-back bogies at the fourth and fifth. He recovered well however with four straight birdies from holes nine to 12.
Another slip up came at 13 but Rooke finished positively with a birdie at the par 5 18th to finish on one-under par 71.
Oliver Pantoja (OP Golf) finished third on level par, Richard Stockdale (Dolgellau) was two shots back in fourth place on 74 and fifth-placed Jason Shufflebotham (Denbigh) finished on 75.
The fourth event in the series of six is at Vale Royal Abbey on November 6.
