Enthusiastic golfer Harry Redknapp has plenty of time to play now he is temporarily out of football management and he proved to be a useful team member in the Ferndown Invitational Pro-am.

‘Arry, who plays much of his golf at Remedy Oak where he runs an annual charity day for Sparks, is a formidable competitor so it was no surprise when he came in on several holes in the winning Ankers and Rawlings team.

Living at nearby Sandbanks, he has always spent as much time as possible during the off-season on one of the many top-class courses near his home. After quitting his last role at Queens Park Rangers his new media duties leave him plenty of time for golf practice.

His partners were home members Martyn and Tim Ankers. They were led by visiting European Seniors Tour player Steven Cipa from South Essex Golf Centre.

Cipa, 55, who has been playing in Europe for five years, helped the team reach 14-under-par 128 to win by one shot from Minchinhampton’s former European Tour left-hander Stuart Little who piloted The Rangers team of Ray Saffer, Mike Beard and Vince Keene.

They relegated home teaching pro James Wilson’s Hackers and Wackers trio of Brendan Delaney, Leighton Barnes and Luke Palmer into third place on countback.

Carpet Barn, led by Danny White (Players Club) were fourth on 130 followed a shot behind by Hooks ‘n Slices, led by Mark Wiggett (Dudsbury), and the ACE Office side with Brokenhurst Manor’s Kevin Saunders in the lead.
