Asbri to sponsor Cornish Festival

PGA Official Supplier Asbri Golf has committed its support to PGA Professionals by agreeing a three-year deal to become title sponsors of Cornish Riviera Pro-Am Festival.

This year’s 54-hole pro-am tournament will be played at Trevose, St Enodoc and Carlyon Bay golf clubs on April 19-21. It is already a sell-out featuring 456 players

(114 professionals and 342 amateurs).

Asbri’s sales and marketing director Paul Williams said: “We are delighted to extend further our relationship with The PGA and continue to support the members across the Wales and South West region, many of whom are very good customers of ours.

“It is an exciting opportunity for us to not only enjoy an incredible week of golf on three fantastic golf courses, but to show our appreciation to PGA customers who have supported our business and continue to stock our products.”

As part of the agreement Asbri will supply on-course tournament branding and prizes for the amateurs as well as an additional £500 trade credit incentive for the leading Asbri Golf account holder.

Asbri managing director Eryl Williams added: “We entered a team in last year’s event and the welcome from every member of staff and the condition of all three golf courses was first class.

“We said we would definitely be back. It is our pleasure to be title sponsors of the event and to have the opportunity to say thank you to PGA Professionals who are the core of our business. We sincerely appreciate their support.”

For the past five years Asbri Golf has also been title sponsor of the Welsh PGA Championship which has a rich history, dating back to 1904, just three years after The Professional Golfers’ Association was formed. This year the prestigious tournament will be played on the Roman Road course at The Celtic Manor Resort on August 23-24, following a pro-am.

The PGA Cornish Festival regularly features well-known international players: Paul Broadhurst, Peter Baker, Steven Richardson, Phillip Price, Andrew Sherborne, Gary Emerson, George Ryall and Stuart Little are among Ryder Cup, European and Seniors Tour players to compete.

Newport-based former European Tour and PGA Cup player Richard Dinsdale, who is now the UK business development manager for Asbri Golf, is once again in this year’s field.
