Barry Austin (Downes Crediton) and Ryan Pope (Exeter) shot three-under-par 66 to share first place in the annual ladies charity pro-am at Exeter Golf and Country Club which raised £2,000 for Exeter Neonatal Unit.
The home assistant was the day’s birdie specialist with five, including at the final two holes after making bogeys on the 11th and 15th.
The experienced Austin played with his customary consistency and only dropped one shot on the 15th before also making birdies at the last two holes to claim victory.
Kevin Harper (East Devon) finished one shot behind in third after carding four birdies. David Cockayne (Tiverton) produced the best back nine of the day, two-under-par 32, to claim fourth on level par.
Austin’s team won the pro-am with 13-under-par 85, three better than Andrew Fox‘s (Bovey Tracey) trio. James Pickard (Honiton) and Nicky Maddison (Saunton) shared third on 81.
