John-Paul Banbury (above) scored a third PGA Midlands Pro-Am success of the season and his second in a week by emerging victorious at the unique KN27 event at Kings Norton.

The three loops of nine hole course in South Birmingham provides a different test to the normal pro-am format and Banbury (Moor Hall) rose to the challenge with a birdie barrage that led to a round of 100, an eight-under-par total and a two shot win. In second place was reigning Midlands No 1 Matthew Cort (Rothley Park) who carded a six-under-par 102.

Ian Walley (Kedleston Park) followed up his win at Leek with third place just a shot further back, with Andrew Jones and Richard O'Hanlon (St Kew) finishing joint fifth with one-under-par totals.

In the team event, David Cranage (Menzies Welcombe) led his fourball to a comfortable victory with a very impressive 22-under-par team score.

The day was also memorable for amateur Tony Ormond of Handsworth as he recorded a hole-in-one at the long par three fourth on the Yellow course.
