PGA pro Mark McGeehan (right) from Magnolia Park in Buckinghamshire and three friends emerged victorious in Portugal to win the Macmillan Cancer Support’s 72-hole Longest Day Golf Challenge.
The 37 year old, and friends Mike Baxter, Ben Hellings and Jason Farr, (left) raised more than £8K for the charity to qualify for the grand final at Boavista Resort in the western Algarve.
In a Facebook post. McGeehan wrote: “We did it!! Champions what an achievement and what a great team Ben Hellings. So proud of you all and everyone taking part.
“The Macmillan charity has raised this year a record breaking £1.1 million and counting. Thank you everybody. Jason you will always be my inspiration to fight hard.”
McGeeham was inspired by Farr, who had leukaemia but battled back to full heath.
His other charity efforts over the summer included raising money for the Children Are Butterflies charity which supports bereaved parents.
