Richard Beadles of Royal Worlington, who was runner-up in this year’s Suffolk PGA stroke play championship, won the professional prize in the Beds and Cambs PGA Pro-Am at Saffron Walden with a one-under-par round of 71.
He beat joint runners-up Stuart Brown of Orton Meadows and George Howard (Brampton Park) by a single shot.
Five players tied on 73 for fourth place. They were Andrew Bentley (M1 Golf Biggleswade Driving Range), Andrew George and Jamie LeBrun (both Ely City), Glyn Krause (Elton Furze) and Mark Sturgess (Bourn).
Fred Meikle of Leighton Buzzard brought home the winning team of Phil Coumbe, George Sadowski and Josh Banwell with 85 Stableford points.
Brown’s team was second one point behind with George and his amateurs third with 82 points.
Rob McNicholas, recently appointed head professional at Saffron Walden, said: “There was a good turn out and a positive feed-back about the condition of the course. It was cold and playing tough which was reflected in the scores.”
