Sion Bebb achieved his fifth win of the season with a sparkling round of seven-under-par 63 to win the Gwalia Housing Trust pro-am at Langland Bay.
The 44-year-old Vale Hotel Golf and Spa Resort touring professional abandoned the Challenge Tour after playing five times last year and has dominated the South West regional events this year.
A day after finishing runner-up in the Microsoft Services Masters, he returned to Wales to produce another impressive display of crisp ball-striking.
Despite dropping his only shot at the sixth, he produced a best-of-the-day haul of eight birdies and signed for ten threes. He was out in three-under-par 33 and back in four-under 30.
He also brought home the winning team with 12-under-par worth 84 points, followed by Stuart Manley (Celtic Manor) and Peter Hunt (The Glamorganshire).
Richard Dinsdale (Parc Golf Academy) was Bebb’s closest challenger three shots behind.
After dropping a shot at the opening hole, he responded with an eagle on the second. He made six birdies and three further bogeys in a roller-coaster round.
Liam Bond (Marriott St Pierre), winner the previous day at Bowood, started and finished with a bogey and dropped two shots at the 14th, but six birdies helped him to share third with Alun Evans (Newport Links) on 68.
Evans, happy playing nearer his home base for a change, was two over after six but rallied with five birdies and only one further dropped shot for his best return of the season.
