Golf sensation Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston is set to help England’s youngest current head PGA professional officially launch his new role on Saturday (August 13).
The English golfer, who has captured the headlines for his refreshing approach to the game, will be the special guest at Crews Hill, Middlesex to mark of 22-year-old James Wood's appointment as head PGA Professional.
The pair are long-time friends and Wood was the spectator Johnston famously bumped chests with during the 2015 BMW PGA Championship when he holed-in-one at the 10th to win a £100,000 BMW Coupe.
Woods and Johnston will both tee off at the first and then re-enact the bumping of chests for a picture that will be framed and hung in Wood’s office.
The pair used to members at North Middlesex and Wood said: He’s a bit older than me but we’ve known each other for years and in fact were out having a drink with our girlfriends last weekend.
“We’re going to re-enact the chest bumping and I’ll be sticking the picture in my office.
“It was very emotional when he made the hole-in-one at Wentworth because he was two or three-over.
“All my mates went up to the green to watch him but I stayed by the tee. I said come on, make a hole-in-one, and of course he did so we went mental.”
Johnston will be at Crews Hill from 1pm-3pm.
