Mark Bell landed the Middlesex Professionals’ Championship with a four-shot success at Pinner Hill.

The Wyke Green professional finished on a level-par total of 142 with Greg Smith (Pinner Hill) securing second spot in the 20-strong field.

Bell’s victory was largely the result of a strong second-round display after he’d opened with a rollercoaster 73. He notched in an eagle and four birdies in that two-over morning effort but was hindered by five bogies and ‘double’.

The afternoon round of Bell was much more solid as he picked up strokes on four holes, dropping only a couple on his way to a 69.

That was enough to see him surge past halfway leader Smith, who followed up a 71 with a 75. Tied for third were Michael Moore (Pinner Hill) and Glynn Harris (Mill Hill).
