A blind golfer, who stole the limelight at the recent ISPS Handa Masters where he has become the focus of the BBC’s ‘Get Inspired’ campaign, has paid tribute to his golf coach – a Midland PGA Professional.
Nathan Hill’s heart warming story can be viewed here where it shows the impact golf has had on his young life.
In the film he also praises his coach, PGA Advanced Professional Craig Thomas (pictured kneeling at the Handa Masters Clinic) for his support in helping him enjoy golf.
The pair are filmed at The Buckinghamshire Golf Club, scene of the ISPS Handa Masters, talking to London 2012 Heptathlete and BBC reporter Louise Hazel in which they discuss the impact of golf on the teenager’s life.
Thomas is the lead coach in the ISPS Handa PGA Academy Programme which equips PGA pros with the skills to teach disabled and blind golfers.
“Nathan started with us a few years ago when he was introduced to me through a care worker,” said Thomas, who has his own golf academy in Wolverhampton.
“He was one of the first blind golfers I’d ever coached and he is such an inspiration.”
The PGA extols a Right Coach; Right Time; Right Place vision which places the PGA pro at the heart of golf with golfers of all abilities having access to the very best coaching for them – whether elite golfer through to beginners and disabled golfers.
Anyone interested in trying golf can access a wealth of taster sessions led by PGA pros which can be viewed here.
