BMW power new event on PGA in Ireland circuit

The PGA in Ireland has added a new event to the 2017 tournament schedule – the BMW Eastern Open.
This one-day, professional only tournament will be played on the wonderful links course at St Anne's Golf Club on April 27th.
“BMW Group Ireland is delighted to support the inaugural BMW Eastern Open,” said Paulo Alves, managing director of the BMW Group Ireland.
“For many years BMW has been synonymous with professional golf worldwide and we are now excited about supporting the home-grown talent in Ireland through our sponsorship of this new and exciting event.
“St Anne's will provide a true test of golf on one of Dublin’s finest links courses.”
St. Anne’s Golf Club is an impressive links with a par of 71. This includes three par fives and four par threes.
In 2003 an extensive redevelopment of the course was completed and a new state-of-the-art clubhouse was opened.
The course itself has undergone significant development since 2003 which included the building of five new greens and eight new tee complexes.
Niall Carroll, St Anne's Golf Club manager, said; “St Anne's Golf Club are delighted to host a new event on the PGA Irish Region calendar, the BMW Eastern Open.
“Allied with our annual Pro Am in August this gives us a great opportunity to showcase our golf course and facilities to the wider golfing community in Ireland. I would like to thank BMW for their support of the event and of golf in general.”
The BMW Eastern Open will be open to professional golfers across Ireland and the event will count towards the 2017 Order of Merit.

“This new tournament provides our professionals with another opportunity to compete on the excellent links lay-out at St Anne's.”
