Bolger closes out season on a high

Jimmy Bolger closed out his 2014 season in style by winning the Etihad Airways PGA Abu Dhabi Pro-Am.

The Kilkenny GC PGA Professional carded successive rounds of 37 points (one-over-par) at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club and Yas Links.

His total of 94 stableford points gave him a two-point victory over Brendan McGovern (Headfort) with Daniel Beattie (Deer Park) third on 70 points.

Bolger also led his team to victory in the team event alongside his playing partners Niall Carroll, Aidan O’Connell and Brian Byrne. 

Their total of 175, which included a magnificent team score of 92 points on day two over the Yas Links course was enough to edge out Scott Wilson's team on countback.

It was a bitter pill to swallow for Co Louth professional Wilson who lost out to Bolger in similar fashion last year.
