A rush of applications are expected after the entry list for the 2015 PGA Cornish Festival was opened today.

Glenn Ross, secretary of the PGA in England and Wales (South West), said: “We have given priority to the professionals who took part last year but are now accepting entries from anyone who has played in previous years or newcomers who wish to sample one of the most popular pro-ams in the UK.

”As usual we advise early application for in recent seasons we have been sold out well before the event and forced to start a waiting list.”

Many of the teams of one professional and three amateurs, from not only the West and Wales but also from all over Britain, automatically rebook each year.

The event is based as usual at the prestigious Trevose Golf and Country Club (above), near Padstow, and features the classic championship links course St Enodoc and the cliff-top gem at Newquay. Teams play at each venue over the three days from April 21-23.

Many notable players and personalities are regular visitors, among them Ryder Cup men Paul Broadhurst, Peter Baker and Steven Richardson as well as European Tour players from both the regular and seniors’ tours.
