Louis Boston made up for lost time by winning the latest Total Triumph-sponsored Gloucester and Somerset PGA event in what was just his second appearance of the campaign.
Despite finishing eighth seven days previously at Cleeve Hill in his first outing, Boston looked somewhat ring rusty at the start of the second at Lansdown Golf Club.
Bogeys at the third and fourth holes were tempered with a birdie at the fifth but blips at six and seven followed by another birdie at nine left him two-over at the turn.
However, with former England, Bath and Gloucester rugby star Matt Banahan on the bag, Boston turned things round on the back nine.
Birdies at 13 and 17 and no further mishaps resulted in a level par round of 71 and a shot advantage over Filton Golf Club’s Giuseppe Licata and Mark Plummer of Cirencester Golf Club.
Having seen his once seemingly unassailable lead in the Order of Merit reduced to single figures by Ed Goodwin, Licata’s tied-second place finish means he is now 18 points clear of his Cirencester rival. Andrew March lies third and Gloucester and Somerset PGA captain Ross Langdon is fourth.
