Holland-based PGA pro John Woof is set to push his physical endurance to the limits as he embarks on his own ‘battle of the backside’ for charity next month.

Woof, a former PGA Cup player, has agreed to undertake a seat challenge at Feyenoord’s 51,000-seater De Kuip stadium just a day after returning from The Masters.

The 57-year-old will emulate the feat undertaken by BBC Match of the Day presenters Robbie Savage and Alan Shearer at Wembley last year for Sport Relief.

Woof is currently in training for the feat that will see him raise funds for the heart and lung department of the Sophia’s Children’s Hospital in Rotterdam.

He announced the challenge at the ground flanked by former Dutch football internationals Roy Makaay and Pierre van Hooijdonk (pictured above left and right) as it is a joint venture between the Feyenoord Foundation and the Da Da Foundation, of which Woof is an ambassador.

Woof will start the challenge at 7am on April 14 and then spend 12 hours each day sitting on 10,000 seats for the next five days.

He will complete the challenge on April 19th when Feyenoord host Go Ahead Eagles, when he will sit on the final seat at half time in the middle of the pitch.

Woof said: “I saw a film of Robbie Savage doing the seat challenge last year and decided it is something I would do.

“I have been and seen all the medical staff and passed fit to do it. I have been in training since November and have lost eight kilos since then.

“It is going to be a challenge.”

Woof, who has a golf academy in the city and is a well-known golf commentator on Dutch TV, will be in the US the week before the challenge covering The Masters at Augusta for the first time in his career.
