Eamonn Brady, the 2015 PGA in Ireland Order of Merit champion, was stymied by the weather in his bid to claim a place in the European Tour's lucrative Shenzhen International.
The Clontarf GC professional made the long trip to China to compete in the international qualifying event at Shenzhen Genzon Golf Club only to find his chances of securing a spot in the event, which will take place on April 21-24, ruined by heavy rain.
Scheduled for 36-holes, the qualifying event attracted 50 international players, 50 players from mainland China and 32 amateurs.
“There were three spots on offer for the Chinese players and three spots for the international players,” said Brady.
“I started with a one-under-par 72 but the second round was rained off and I finished sixth overall, fourth in the international field, one place shy of the qualifying spot!”
On the plus side for Brady he is looking ahead to competing in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open hosted by the Rory Foundation at the K Club in May.
