Brendan McGovern (above centre) carded a four-under-par round of 68 to edge out Ciaran Molloy and win the Ballyliffin Pro-Am on Saturday.
The experienced Headfort GC professional (above) began the day three shots behind overnight leader Neil O'Briain (Old Conna GC) but came through to win in some style, sealing victory with an eagle at the par five 18th.
Blackwood assistant Molloy also finished strongly, collecting birdies at 14th, 17th and 18th, but he paid for a poor start to his round which saw him go to the turn in three-over 38.
O'Briain looked in total control after going to the turn in two under 33 but his chances evaporated on the back nine as he struggled home in four-over 40.
McGovern had double cause for celebration after guiding his amateur partners, Jack Duffy, Brian Phelan and David McGready to the team prize. Their reward, is a four-night stay with three rounds of golf at Quinta do Lago, Algarve, Portugal.
A special mention too for Ardee professional Scott Kilpatrick, who aced the 172-yard par three fifth at the Glashedy Links on Friday.
